Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is reglazing?
A. The reglazing process uses a sprayed on urethane polymer that rstores your bathtub to its beautiful and easy to clean finish. The polymer, which can be ordered to match existing fixtures, dries hard to maximize its durability.

Q. Isn't it cheaper to just buy a new bathtub?
A. When you compare estimates for the total cost of the installation of a new bathtub with our price, you will find that Dan's Bathtub Reglazing will save you time and money. If you have an older porcelain / cast iron bathtub, it is far superior in quality to the lower price replacement bathtubs on the market today.

Q. How long does it take to reglaze my bathtub?
A. Normally, between two to three hours, depending on the condition. If the bathtub has been previously reglazed it will take between three and four hours to strIp and reglaze your bathtub. Most of the time is spent preparing the bathtub for the reglazing process. The whole reglazing process will be completed all on the same one day.

Q. What about caulking?
A. In the preparation we remove all the old caulk. However, when the reglazing has been completed the bathtub is wet and the caulk cannot be replaced. Caulking can be replaced after the drying time is completed (24 hours). To keep our prices down, we offer the customer the option of recaulking their own bathtub. For an additional charge, we can return the next day to recaulk your bathtub.

Q. Is there anything we (the customer) need to do before you arrive?
A. Yes. You should clean your tub prior to the appointment. It is important that there are no leaking faucets. Also, all loose items need to be removed from the bathroom and the all counters should be cleared.

Q. Why do other companies charge different prices?
A. Like everything else, you get what you pay for. Cheaper prices mean some shortcuts have been taken and a cheaper material is being used. Also, specialized equipment necessary may not be a part of the process.
To reglaze a bathtub so it will look like new and last for many years, we take pride that we make no compromises on materials, procedure or equipment. This may cost a few more dollars, but the final product will be something you can be proud of and be happy and confident with for many years.
